FARI week 6 presenting BBC News Western Europe The Netherlands isn’t happy with the fact that the European Union is unfreezing trade ties with Serbia. The reason is that there are still two former war leaders to be captured; Ratko Mladic, Bosnian Serb army commander, and Goram Hadzic, Croatian Serb leader, both from the war in Srebrenica in 1995. The Netherlands authorities think Serbia hasn’t cooperate to capture these fugitives and demands that they do something about it if they want their approval to unfreeze trade ties. China China’s industrial output slowed after closing some factories because of the Olympics. These factories were closed so the air would have a better quality. China’s economy grew 11.9% in 2007 but has come down to 10.1% in 2008. Beijing has increased interest rates and reduced the bank funds available to firms. China’s economy might not recover easily from this but it is sure that it will not loose its strength.
