I kind of had a hard time of thinking of a topic for this week. Canada has a great social welfare system: free medical, UI, welfare assistance, Canada pension, etc. but do we need all of them. Let me know what you think.

Oct 13, 2008 - Personally, I think that most of our social systems ARE abused. Get rid of any? I hope not. Our welfare system really needs to be managed better. There are too many people on the system that shouldn't be. Also, it seems that many times legitimate people in need are being turned away. Makes no sense. And the doctor thing - I can't believe the things people will actually go to a walk-in clinic for. What a waste of resources.

Oct 15, 2008 - I agree with you on the management part, but there just doesn't seem to be any improvement anytime soon. I think we need to send less money abroad and concentrate on improving services at home.
