Surface deformation in the Zuidregion, observed by satellite radar interferometry. A time history between 1992 and 2001 using the satellites ERS-1 and ERS-2 is used. The uplift signal is related to rising water tables after ceased coal mining in the 1970's. The subsidence signal in the east is related to dropping water tables due to mining activities in Germany. The signal is spatially interpolated. Locally, high gradients are visible in the source data, related to active and impermeable faults in the region. C TU Delft, 2008.
