Anthony asks us a most important question: How do you know anything? Do you know the answer? It may not be what you think - or it may very well be exactly what you think. In any case the answer to the question is not the one the world and the academic establishment usually recognises, and it may also come as a surprise to most of us. To be able to understand the problem that Anthony puts before us, we need to ask ourselves what it is we really see - the tree in the world, or a tiny image of the same tree somewhere deep inside our heads. If you come to the conclusion that the tree in the world is what you see then what does that mean? Does it put all of recognised science on its head? I believe it does. So what do you think? Music: Korngold's lovely theme tune to "The Prince and the Pauper" from 1937.

Sep 21, 2008 - Good video Looking into mind is such an important book. Without it I'm not sure I would have really understood how I know anything..

Sep 21, 2008 - I agree with you, my friend, it is a great book and makes the reader ask himself some very important questions. The funny thing is the way we just take the scientific explanations for granted. If we have a little think about what they actually are telling us, we will realize that there is a problem. Any child will tell us that the tree it sees is in the world - and not in the head.
