Sep 21, 2008 - I disagree with your last statement. Listen to the studio... she crushes this song and wipes the stage with it. What good does it do to tell her that she isn't as good as Mariah? What is she supposed to do? Say, "Oh, okay. I'm not as good as Mariah"? Here she's all like... "kay... what now?" XD

Too bad the introductory material where Mariah called Carly "amazing" and said that "she was really enjoying watching her" on American Idol isn't on this clip. I guess in a way the performance speaks for itself.

Nov 5, 2008 - I love this Carly (singing ballads is what got her signed by MCA in the first place). I love the rocker Carly that we saw on the Idols Live tour and some of her show performances. I also love the Ultimate High pop Carly (where she channels songwriter Danielle Brisebois ) More than likely, I'll love the post-Idol Carly Smithson sound as well, because, with a voice like hers it is pretty hard to go wrong when you step up to the microphone. On the other hand, the music industry is a hot mess.
