Aug 8, 2008 - After stagnating the techology this long for their Big Oil bed buddies while our sons and daughters die to keep their cars powered by gas? I'll pass, there will be far superior EV's on the road that will smoke the Volt by the time it comes out.
stingray7597 diyorki:
Aug 8, 2008 - Great attitude buddy. The Volt will be the best, so I guess you will have to purchase a Japanese-made volt which will continue to dig the US a deeper hole in its trade deficit. Pathetic.
stingray7597 diyorki:
Aug 8, 2008 - Hopefully the Volt will help GM, Ford and Chrylser run the Japanese automakers out of the US.
LovePontiac diyorki:
Aug 8, 2008 - Probably not going to happen. Right now it's popular to hate the big bad evil GM and their Americaness. People have already decided they hate the Volt. I think that says a lot about how ridiculous the bias against GM is.
swampfoxx81 diyorki:
Aug 9, 2008 - the thing that bothers me is how GM, Ford and Chrystler fell so fast and hard. There is no way Ford and GM are going anywhere. yes they are down but they are not out. They relize now they fucked up in the 90s. Now they will go back to their roots. design and quality.
LovePontiac diyorki:
Aug 9, 2008 - Well what bothers me the most is Ford and Chrysler. All the American automakers get averaged together. You ask which brands belong to GM, a lot of the times people will name Ford and Dodge. And that sucks for GM because Chrysler is just doing an awful job and have terrible products. Ford is much better, but they are pulling a Toyota and not designing any interesting cars. GM needs to make it very clear which brands belong to them.

Aug 10, 2008 - wow sting, u must really love bending over and forking all your hard earned faded dollars to the company that has been deliberately producting junk cars from day 1 to keep you hooked into their system of maintenance. they milk u like a cow. I would LOVE to buy American, but our car companies are not on our side. Thank your lucky stars that the japanese competion has been here, they forced U.S. car companies to step it up to try to match their superior quality.

Aug 24, 2008 - This is plain STUPID! They claim 400 miles: At 30Mpg your Tankfull of gas can get you 390 miles! The electric motor only gets u 40 more miles 4 a reduced cost! & u pay through the Nose 4 it! & then u have a whole new system of potential electrical problems 2deal w/ on TOP of all the typical mechanical problems! Imagine the cost of replacing that nice battery that only gets you an extra few miles. There r better ways to build an e-car, & they know it. They r corrupt as hell
LovePontiac diyorki:
Aug 24, 2008 - So? What if you can only get 200 miles a tank? It doesn't take very long to fill up. 40 miles is plenty. Most people drive less than 40 miles over the course of a day so those people wont use ANY gas at all. And electric drive is way more reliable than a typical gas drivetrain. The EV1 had much no problems at all. Plus things like the torque converter and transmission are gone. And the engine wont be on very often, and when it is it will be a steady RPM. The best way to run an engine.
xiaou2 diyorki:
Aug 25, 2008 - Unless u can buy this w/cash...the $35,000 price wont do a thing to decrease ur fuel costs. U will pay all saved money 2 bankers interests payments. I believe their older EV1 had 150 miles on all electric. Why only 40 now - with enhanced technology?! They intentionally killed the EV1. see "who killed the electric car". Tthey should b able 2 reduce weight & excess BS. The car should b able 2 travel at least 100 miles easily.. & shouldnt cost anywhere near 30,000.
xiaou2 diyorki:
Aug 25, 2008 - In addition, the electric motor is supposedly only providing a tiny fraction of power 2 assist the non efficient, unrefined old tech gas engine. You drive a long trip... or forget to plug in the car.. & you save like $1 from the new tech. Whoopee. Especially when they raise the costs of everything else including electricity. Its all a huge scam.
LovePontiac diyorki:
Aug 25, 2008 - You obviously know very little about cars, and even less about electric cars. The fact that you're getting your information from biased documentary is hilarious. I've already watched it. Several times, and it's a joke. Those people were electric car fans who don't actually know anything about cars. The entire movie was basically based on conspiracy theories.
LovePontiac diyorki:
Aug 25, 2008 - As far as the range, they kept is low to keep the cost down. Yeah the EV1 had a 100+ range, but it also had a massive 1,000 lb,$40,000 battery pack. Plus it was tiny and could only seat two. The Volt has better acceleration, less batteries, more weight from its bigger size, and worse aerodynamics from it's more conservative styling. Which was necessary. You ask the average person what they think of the EV1 and they'll tell you it's too small too ugly, and too expensice ($80,000 at the time)
LovePontiac diyorki:
Aug 25, 2008 - That's totally wrong. The Volt's gas engine is entirely new. In fact it's not even made yet. Plus it in NO WAY drives the car. The only thing that moves the volt is the electric motor. In theory you could rip the gas engine out and it would still go all the way up to 120 MPH. You would just be limited to a range of ~40 miles. Unless you wanted to buy more batteries and put them in yourself... which I imagine some people will be doing.
LovePontiac diyorki:
Aug 25, 2008 - And Toyota doesn't do the same damn thing? Sequoia 14 MPG, Tundra 14 MPG, Land Cruiser 13 MPG, LX570 13 MPG. If Toyota really cared so much about the environment they would be selling cars like the Prius but WITHOUT the hybrid system. A non hybrid Prius would be about $5,000 cheaper and would still get phenomenal fuel economy. It gets something like 48 MPG highway and the hybrid system isn't even active at those speeds. So without the hybrid weight it would get even more efficient at high spee
bluesny08 diyorki:
Sep 10, 2008 - you are so right luv pontiac lets not forget the vw diesels geting 69 mpg without the added weight of a hybird system forget about if you add one maybe 80 or 90 mpg. Also this volt car is a smack in the face to the people this car should be out now with old battery tech the EV1 did need a ion battery to make people love to drive it more charging stations and a faster charger they did have 10 min chargers then but they have them now and thats all thats needed to have cars like the volt.
